Mary Dowden
Children’s Director

Mary Dowden has been a member of Mulberry Baptist Church since moving to Houma in 1992. Mary grew up in Slidell, LA where she met and married her high school sweetheart, Justin Dowden, in 1985. Mary is a graduate of Louisiana State University (B.S. Geology, 1985). She and Justin have four children – Logan, married to Chelsea; Julia, married to Patrick Mims; Jessica, and Cameron – and one grandchild.
Mary has spent many years actively pursuing a closer relationship with God and intentionally seeking to understand His plan for her life. It has been an extraordinary experience to see God at work in her life and directing her path. God has gifted both Mary and Justin with a great love and concern for children of all ages, and they often comment on the “love at first sight” effect that children have on them. Because of that love, Mary has served in Children’s Ministry at Mulberry Baptist Church in various ways since 1993, through VBS (Nursery, Preschool teacher, Grade School teacher, and Director), preschool choir, preschool and children’s Sunday School, TeamKID, and Awana. Each of these experiences has helped her to grow as a Christian, and has helped to prepare her for her position as Children’s minister, in which she has served since 2007.
Courtney Kraemer

Courtney Gautreaux
Children’s Day Out Director
Courtney was the first child born to her parents, Barbara and Errol Malbrough, in January of 1967 while her father was in the Air Force, stationed in Germany. The family lived there until her father was transferred back to the United States. The family lived on various Air Force bases throughout the country in the states of Michigan, South Dakota, Washington and Colorado until her father left the service in 1975. Courtney’s family then moved back to Houma, where they have lived since.
Courtney attended Mulberry Baptist Church and accepted Christ at the age of 15 and was baptized. She graduated from Vanderbilt Catholic High School in 1985, and went on to attend Nicholls State University. She met her future husband, Lee Gautreaux through a mutual friend during high school and started dating him in 1987. They married in January 1992 and have three children, Joshua, Tessa and Justin. They also have two grandchildren, Draven and Zayleigh.
Courtney has always had a calling to minister to and teach children. She has been a teacher at Mulberry’s Children’s Day Out for the last five years and has recently accepted the position of Director of the CDO program.
